Zorbing, also called sphering, involves climbing inside a large inflatable sphere, which then rolls down a designated slope or across flat ground. The outer ball cushions the movement while the participant is secured inside, either in a harness or free-moving. It is designed as a light-hearted adventure activity rather than a technical sport, but still involves controlled downhill movement and rotation.
ActivitySure can cover zorbing on an amateur, non-professional basis when you are taking part abroad. This applies to recreational sessions organised by recognised operators, whether on dry tracks or water-filled runs. It does not include professional performance or commercial operation of equipment. Although zorbing is structured and supervised, the rolling motion and downhill gradients mean there is still a risk of impact or disorientation.

Destination Insight
New Zealand is widely recognised as the original home of zorbing and remains one of the best-known destinations for the activity. Adventure parks in Thailand, the UK and South Korea now offer a range of dry and water-based zorbing experiences. These are typically located within established outdoor activity centres rather than open hillside environments.
Zorbing involves enclosed rolling movement, often downhill, which can result in bumps, bruises or temporary dizziness. Slips while entering or exiting the sphere are also possible. If you are injured while abroad, medical treatment or repatriation may be required. Having appropriate travel insurance in place helps protect you financially if something goes wrong during your trip.
