ActivitySure are always happy to help. Below you'll find a selection of the most frequently asked questions, so that you feel more comfortable purchasing sports and activities travel insurance. Otherwise, you can get in touch with our UK-based contact centre, and a member of the team can assist you with your queries.

Who can buy ActivitySure travel insurance?

ActivitySure travel insurance is only available to UK residents.

To buy a policy, you must be registered with a UK GP, be in the UK when you purchase the policy, and you must not have already started your trip. You also must not have spent more than six months abroad in the 12 months before buying your policy.

When should I buy my ActivitySure travel insurance?

You should buy travel insurance as soon as you want cancellation cover to begin.

For Single Trip policies, cancellation cover starts when you book your trip or buy your policy, whichever is later. It then ends when you leave home to start your trip.

For Annual Multi-Trip policies, cancellation cover starts when you book each trip or from the start date shown on your Policy Certificate, whichever is later. Choose your start date carefully, so your cancellation cover starts when you actually need it.

Can ActivitySure cover working abroad?

Some types of work abroad can be covered by ActivitySure, but it depends on the work you are doing and whether it is listed on your policy.

Certain work-related activities may be covered, including bar work, office or clerical work, bar and restaurant work, music performance, singing, fruit picking without machinery, and non-manual work.

Make sure the correct work activity is shown on your Policy Certificate. If your plans change, contact ActivitySure before you work abroad so your cover matches what you are actually doing.

Does ActivitySure cover winter sports equipment?

Winter Sports equipment is covered as standard if you've added Winter Sports cover to your policy.

Other sports equipment can also be covered, if the Sports Cover extension is included on your policy and the correct premium has been paid. This includes your own sports equipment and hired sports equipment, up to the limit shown on your Policy Certificate.

You must report loss or theft of sports equipment to a local authority or transport provider within 24 hours. If the loss or theft happens while your equipment is with an airline, you will also need a Property Irregularity Report from them.

Check your Policy Wording for the full limits, conditions and exclusions before you travel.

Can I extend my ActivitySure policy while I am already away?

You may be able to make changes to your ActivitySure policy, but you must contact ActivitySure before your policy ends.

Extensions are not guaranteed, so do not leave it until your cover has already expired. If your trip is changing, call ActivitySure as soon as possible so the team can confirm whether your policy can be amended.

What age limits apply to ActivitySure travel insurance?

For Single Trip policies, the maximum age is 80. For Annual Multi-Trip policies, the maximum age is 65.

Trip length limits also apply. Single Trip policies can cover trips up to 365 days for travellers aged 65 and under, or up to 94 days for travellers aged 66 to 80. Annual Multi-Trip policies allow multiple trips during the policy period, but each trip must stay within the trip limit shown for your cover level.

Does ActivitySure cover natural disasters?

ActivitySure policies can include catastrophe cover, but cover depends on the circumstances and the terms in your Policy Wording.

Travel insurance will not usually cover costs you can recover from somewhere else, such as your airline, travel provider,  or tour operator. If a natural disaster affects your trip, check your Policy Wording and contact the right provider first so you know where the claim should go.

Does ActivitySure cover terrorism?

Terrorism is generally excluded under ActivitySure policies, but this exclusion does not apply to the Emergency Medical Expenses Abroad and Personal Accident sections.

That means if you are injured in a terrorist attack while abroad, emergency medical expenses abroad can be covered, subject to the policy terms, conditions and exclusions. Medical repatriation can also be covered when it is arranged or authorised by the emergency medical assistance service.

What does travel insurance excess mean?

An excess is the amount you pay towards a claim.

With ActivitySure, the excess is shown on your Policy Certificate and is payable per person, per incident claimed, unless you have purchased an excess waiver. In plain English, it is the bit of the claim you are responsible for before the policy pays the rest.

Can ActivitySure cover holidays in the UK?

Yes, ActivitySure can cover UK trips, but UK trip rules apply.

For a UK trip to be covered, it must include at least two nights of pre-booked accommodation. Your Policy Wording also explains how UK cover applies, including any limits, conditions and exclusions.
