Ringos, sometimes called snow tubing, involve sliding downhill on inflatable rings along snow-covered or artificial tubing tracks. Unlike skiing or snowboarding, ringos do not require technical skill, balance training or specialist technique. Participants remain seated or reclined in the inflatable while gravity does the work, making the activity accessible and popular with families and first-time winter sports participants. When travelling abroad, ringos are typically enjoyed at an amateur level as part of organised resort activities.
ActivitySure can cover ringos when you are taking part overseas on an amateur, recreational basis and in line with the policy conditions. Although ringos are designed to be fun and easy to access, they can still reach high speeds, which means suitable travel insurance remains important.

Destination Insight
Ringos are widely offered at ski resorts and winter activity centres that cater to a broad range of visitors. Alpine destinations such as Austria and France feature dedicated tubing runs, often separate from ski slopes, making them a popular choice for non-skiers. They are also popular in destinations such as Japan, where winter resorts combine snow tubing with other organised snow activities, creating family-friendly winter experiences.
Even on controlled tubing runs, accidents can happen. Collisions, sudden stops or being thrown off balance can lead to impact injuries or falls. If you need medical treatment while abroad, or your trip is disrupted due to an unexpected incident, travel insurance can help provide financial protection.
