Re-enactment involves recreating historical periods, events or battles using period-appropriate clothing, props and scripted scenarios. Participants often take on specific roles and work as part of a group to portray historical life, demonstrations or staged combat scenes. While some re-enactments may look intense, they are not the same as live combat sports or martial arts, as movements are choreographed, rules are agreed in advance and safety controls are in place. When travelling abroad, re-enactment is typically undertaken at an amateur level as part of organised events, festivals or historical societies.
ActivitySure can cover re-enactment when you are taking part overseas on an amateur, non-professional basis and in line with the policy conditions. Even though activities are planned and supervised, re-enactment often involves physical movement, props and close interaction with others, making suitable travel insurance important.

Destination Insight
Re-enactment events are popular in countries with strong historical traditions and well-known heritage sites. The UK hosts a wide range of medieval, Roman and wartime re-enactments at castles, battlefields and public festivals throughout the year. France and the USA are also well known for large-scale re-enactment events, where historical anniversaries and themed festivals attract amateur participants from around the world.
Although re-enactment is designed to be controlled and safe, injuries can still occur. Trips, falls or accidental contact with props or equipment may result in strains or impact injuries. If you require medical treatment while abroad, or your trip is disrupted unexpectedly, travel insurance can help provide financial protection.
