Motocross is an off-road motorcycling activity that takes place on purpose-built tracks or designated off-road venues. It involves riding over uneven terrain, jumps and obstacles, and is enjoyed through organised training sessions, supervised rides and amateur events.
ActivitySure can cover motocross when you are taking part abroad at an amateur level, including organised training and participation under supervision, provided the activity meets the policy conditions. Due to the speed and terrain involved, suitable travel insurance is an important consideration when travelling to ride overseas.

Destination Insight
Motocross is popular in countries such as France, Italy and the United States, where established circuits host regular training sessions and amateur competitions. Other destinations, including Spain and Thailand, attract visiting riders with off-road training grounds and supervised riding experiences that suit a range of skill levels.
Motocross involves high speeds, jumps and unpredictable surfaces, which increase the risk of falls or collisions. Injuries sustained while riding may require medical treatment or further assistance while abroad.
Motocross isn’t usually covered as standard, so you’ll need to add it as an activity to your policy if you plan to take part. As long as it is listed on your policy certificate, you can be covered for things like emergency medical expenses if you’re injured while riding. If it’s not included, you won’t be covered.
Yes, we can provide cover for a motocross competition on the basis that it is amateur-only. This means that the participant is not receiving any form of monetary reward, including payment, sponsorship, or prize money.
It can be, but only if it’s been declared and added to your policy. Riding on a motocross track is usually treated as a higher-risk activity, so it won’t automatically be included on a standard travel insurance policy.
They can be, as long as they’re non-competitive and the activity has been added to your policy. If you’re attending a training camp or riding school, it’s important to make sure the activity is on your policy certificate.
We may be able to cover freestyle motocross, depending on the nature of the participation. If you’re going to be taking part in this activity, please get in touch so that we can discuss it with you.
