Under ActivitySure policies, manual labour has a specific meaning that differs from the everyday use of the term. It refers to light, non-industrial work only, rather than physically demanding or trade-based roles.
ActivitySure can cover manual labour when you are working abroad at an amateur or temporary level, provided the work falls within the accepted definition and meets the policy conditions.
For clarity, manual labour under this policy includes manual labour (excluding heavy or industrial work but including office and clerical work, bar and restaurant work, music performance and singing, and fruit picking where no machinery is used).
This cover does not extend to construction, skilled trades, site work, mechanical tasks or any role involving machinery or heavy lifting.

Destination Insight
This type of work is commonly undertaken as part of working-holiday trips in destinations such as Australia, New Zealand and Canada, where travellers often take on short-term roles alongside their travels. Hospitality, administrative support and seasonal fruit picking are particularly popular in tourist regions, rural communities and city centres where temporary staffing is common.
Even in lighter working roles, accidents and illness can still occur while you are overseas. Slips, falls, repetitive strain or unrelated medical issues may still require treatment during your trip. Having suitable travel insurance in place helps protect you financially if you need medical care or assistance while working abroad.
